Order

I still want to change something in my order, is that possible?
It is not possible to modify your order after it has been placed. This applies to cancellation of your order, address changes and product changes.
Can I ship my order to two addresses?
No, we cannot deliver 1 order to two addresses. We recommend that you place separate orders for two separate delivery addresses.
How can I track my order?
Once your package has left us, you will receive via email a Track and Trace code that you can use to track your package.
I did not receive a confirmation email

If you did not receive a confirmation within minutes of ordering, the following may have gone wrong.
- Your provider may have marked our automatic mailing as spam and deleted/moved it to the spam box;
- You made a typing error in your email address when ordering;
- You have paid by direct debit, in that case it takes two days for the bank to approve the payment after which you will receive a confirmation from us.

Do I always get a free gift with my order?

We occasionally surprise our customers with a gift with a specific purchase amount. This is always temporary and while supplies last.
When your shopping cart reaches a certain purchase amount, the product is automatically added to your shopping cart.

The free product is only valid on our webshop and not valid in our store unless otherwise stated. You cannot exchange the free product for cash.
Maximum 1 free product per purchase and not in combination with other offers.

If you return the products with which your free product expires, the free product will also pass, and we would like to receive it back.

Yes, payments to Marie-Stella-Maris are handled by Mollie. They also handle the payments of several large webshops. They ensure that your transaction is carried out securely. Once the payment is received, the order will be processed immediately by Marie-Stella-Maris and the normal delivery time applies. How long is my Marie-Stella-Maris gift card valid?

Your gift card is valid for 2 years and can be redeemed at any time in our webshop or in our stores.

Where can I use my gift card?

You can redeem your gift card in our own stores and our webshop. Online you can use the gift card during payment. After you have added your favorite products to the shopping cart and entered your details, select the gift card during payment. It is possible to use multiple cards in one transaction and in combination with other payment methods except Apple Pay. In the store you can easily have the barcode scanned. Have fun shopping!

Do I have to spend my gift card at once?

You do not have to spend your gift card in one go, of course the remaining credit on the card will remain for your next purchase.

Where can I buy a gift card?

I lost my gift card, what can I do?

Not to worry, we are happy to look for a solution with you. To help you we need the proof of purchase or an order number. Please send this to customerservice@marie-stella-maris.comso we can retrieve your giftcard.

Do I have to activate my gift card before using it?

A physical gift card ordered on our website must first be activated before use. To do this, follow the instructions via email and/or go to 'ACTIVATE CARDS'. If you are unable to do so, please contact customerservice@marie-stella-maris.com.

Am I entitled to the gift with purchase when I purchase a gift card?

When purchasing a gift card, you are purchasing a payment method. Therefore, you are not entitled to the gift at the time of purchase. Of course, when the giftcard is redeemed and the conditions in place at that time are met, the gift will be added to that purchase!

How long will it take to receive my order?
When you make a purchase online, we strive to deliver it to your home as quickly as possible. All orders placed and paid for before 23:59 on a business day will be shipped the same day. Add to this the delivery time of the mail order company, and your order will arrive after one or two days at most.
Can I exchange or return my purchase?

Are you not satisfied? No problem! You may return purchased products within 14 days of the delivery date.

Please note that items ordered through our webshop cannot be returned or exchanged in our physical store(s).
If you want a different product or fragrance, you can return the unwanted product; after we have received and processed the product, we aim to credit it within ten working days! In the meantime, you can re-order the right product in our webshop..

Additionally, it is possible to return your package yourself through the return policy on our website. Please note that you will have to pay shipping costs for this option. Returning the item in one of our stores is free of charge. The refund for your return will be processed in the same way as your payment. For instance, if you paid via Ideal, the amount will be credited back to your account.

Our body care and home products are offered in a series of unique fragrances. Each scent is specially designed to surprise, enhance mood and provide an unforgettable fragrance experience.

My product has changed color, how is this possible? Is this bad?
This may. Some of our products are in clear glass and are therefore exposed to elements such as sunlight. This has an effect on the product. Color change does not change anything about how the product works; it is purely the natural ingredients that react to sunlight.
How long do the products have a shelf life?
The products have a shelf life of 3 years after production. After opening 9 to 12 months.
Concentrated Hair Care
What is the difference between the two concentrated shampoos?
The main difference between the two shampoos is the effect it has on your hair. As the name suggests: the Hydrate shampoo contains more ingredients that provide extra hydration for your hair, while the Strengthening shampoo contains more ingredients that strengthen the hair. The choice is yours based on the treatment that you wish to give your hair. What is the difference between the concentrated shampoo and your regular shampoo?

Great question! We aim to offer concentrated alternatives for many of our products to avoid the unnecessary transportation of water. In other parts of the world where clean water is not always a given, we are fortunate enough to have clean water that simply flows from the tap. By transporting less water weight, we reduce our CO2 emissions, decrease our environmental impact and use water sustainably. You can easily mix the concentrated formula with the water from your shower and create a lovely foam.

If your hair tends to be dry easily and you want to hydrate it more, I recommend our Hydrate line. In case your hair is prone to breakage or has been coloured, the Strengthening line would be more suitable. Our regular shampoo is a very fine shampoo that is perfect if you don't have specific hair needs, but still looking for proper care and softening. Are the shampoos suitable for all hair types?

Our shampoos have been tested on all hair types and are certainly suitable for them! Depending on your hair's needs you can choose from our Hydrate or Strengthening line. How long does the tube last?
We understand that you want to enjoy your products as long as possible. One tube is approximately equal to 80 washes if you use the recommended amount of 2cm of product per wash. 1 tube of our Concentrated Haircare equals about 3 bottles of 250 ML. So, you save 3 plastic bottles, reducing a lot of waste.
Where do you dispose of the tube?
The aluminum tube is recyclable. Therefore, we strongly recommend separating waste properly. Aluminum can go with metal waste, so in a PMD bag. The plastic cap can also be thrown in this bag.

Body Care producten

How long does the Foaming Body Wash last?

We understand that you want to enjoy this product for as long as possible. With regular use, it typically lasts for about 60 to 75 showers. However, if you use a lot of foam, it may not last as long.

How do I use the Foaming Body Wash?

First, unscrew the pump from the bottle and fill the bottle with 1 cm of tap water. Then, carefully open the concentrate. Use a coaster to prevent leaks. Pour the concentrate completely into the bottle. Once done, add tap water to within 1 cm of the rim. Screw the pump back onto the bottle and pump a few times to enjoy a rich, nourishing foam.

The Foaming Body Wash can only be used in combination with the concentrate. The concentrate cannot be used in other bottles.

Which products can I refill?

In our store, we offer refill solutions for all products in our current range, except for the scented candles, lip balm, and hand cream.
Every day, you can refill your product for 35% of the retail price. On Wednesday afternoons between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, it's Happy Hour at our refill bar where you can refill your products for 50% of the retail price. Not valid on refill packaging.

For refilling at home, we provide refill pouches for the Hand Soap and Body Wash. Additionally, we have refills available for the Body Cream, Body Scrub, Scent Diffusers, and Scented Candles. We are continuously working hard to expand our refill options.

Are your products 100% natural?
No, you almost always use natural and synthetic ingredients to create perfume. First, natural ingredients often carry allergens that can negatively affect the skin, and we believe it is essential to offer gentle products on the skin. Second, you often need much less of a synthetic ingredient than a the natural alternative for the same effect, and that makes using synthetic more sustainable than natural. And finally, scent perception is super important to us, and the interplay of natural and synthetic almost always gives the best results for the user.
Do you test your products on animals?

Absolutely not. We love our animal friends just as much as you do. Rest assured, none of our products are tested on animals.

Are your products vegan/vegan?
Yes, all our products are vegan, except the scented candles in the candle we use a small percentage of beeswax which provides a smooth surface and an even burn.

How long do the fragrance sticks last?

110ML: 3-6 weeks.

240ML: 3-4 months.

470ML: up to 6 months.

Always pay attention to product placement when using: avoid direct sunlight, warm places and locations with a lot of airflow. Heat and lots of wind can cause the product to run out a lot faster. Sunlight can also cause discoloration.

Why is the wax of the scented candles white instead of black?
We did this intentionally because adding animal or synthetic black dye does not suit us as a brand. First, the dye is not necessary; in addition, with black animal dye, it would mean that the candles are no longer vegan. Synthetic black dye means that the candles are less natural. Because of this, all new scented candles have a natural, neutral colour. Better for the environment, better for yourself.

My fragrance sticks seem to run out faster, how is this possible?
The sticks fill up in the first 24 hours with beautiful perfume, which is why it may seem like it empties quickly in the first week. However, the fragrance will release itself more slowly after the sticks are saturated. In addition, pay attention to the placement of the product: avoid direct sunlight, warm places, and locations with a lot of airflows. Heat and wind can cause the product to release much faster. Sunlight can also cause discoloration
Should the fragrance sticks be turned over?
The fragrance sticks are made of a special fiber; a blend of cotton and terylene. This fiber ensures maximum fragrance diffusion and therefore does not need to be flipped. You can always choose to turn the sticks around should you need a fragrance boost.
What are the scented candles made of?
The scented candles contain 100% natural wax made from rapeseed - and coconut oil and 100% vegan. The blend ensures even burning and prevents tunneling.

First and foremost, we chose a mineral filter because we strive to utilize natural ingredients as much as possible. Our filter is made of zinc, which is naturally present on Earth. Additionally, our filter has a natural coating, namely castor oil, and is a natural wax.

Another important reason we chose for a mineral filter is because they are gentler on the skin. Chemical filters are often associated with skin irritation. We aim to leave your skin as cared for as possible. In addition, we absolutely did not want to use filters that have been proven to harm the environment, such as the chemical filters Oxybenzone, Octocrylene, and Homosalate. Our non-nano Zinc Oxide filter has soothing properties and softens the skin instead of irritating it. Just what you want on your sun vacation!

What is the difference between SPF50 Body en SPF50 Face?

The difference between these two products lies in the percentage of perfume used. Our face cream contains 0.1% perfume, while our body cream contains 1%. Our perfume has been extensively tested, causes few allergies, and is therefore safe to use in the sun. This way, you can go into the sun smelling great and protected.

Is your sunscreen also suitable for children?

Our sunscreen features a mineral filter, making it gentler on the skin compared to chemical alternatives. Within mineral filters, we chose the non-nano Zinc Oxide filter because it's the only filter that provides protection against the broad spectrum of UVA1, UVA2, and UVB rays. Additionally, zinc is naturally soothing and promotes skin healing. Our gentle and fully protective sunscreen is therefore highly suitable for children!

Will I get a white cast from your sunscreen?

Absolutely not! It's a valid question because a mineral filter typically leaves a white cast. However, our non-nano Zinc Oxide filter has a natural coating made from castor oil. This ensures that the Zinc Oxide does not leave a white cast and remains easy to apply.

Monochrome collection

What are the scented candle and refill made of?

The scented candles and refills are produced 100% carbon-neutral in the Netherlands and made from 100% natural wax derived from rapeseed and coconut oil. Not only is this better for the environment, but the natural composition also provides a longer burning time and effective fragrance diffusion.

Because natural wax is naturally softer than paraffin wax, it may occur that the shape changes slightly during transport. However, this does not affect the quality or performance of the candle. When you place and light the candle, the difference in shape will no longer be noticeable, and you can fully enjoy the unique fragrance experience.

How to I evenly burn the wax?

We recommend burning the candle for at least two hours, or as long as necessary until the entire surface has melted. This helps prevent a small portion of the candle from burning faster and causing a tunnel. Additionally, we recommend keeping the wick short for prolonged enjoyment of the candle.

How do I refill the scented candle?

Refill your scented candle easily in a few steps:

  1. Rinse the inside of the glass with warm water. Disclaimer: the glass is not dishwasher safe.
  2. Remove the pit and any candle residue from the glass with a paper towel.
  3. Dry the glass thoroughly.
  4. Take your Scented Candle Refill from the packaging and remove the paper.
  5. Place the wax in the glass. Enjoy your new scented candle!
How long do the Monochrome Fragrance Sticks last?

The Monochrome Fragrance Sticks come in large 750 ml bottles, allowing you to enjoy your favorite scent for up to 8 months. Currently available in two variants: No.10 Rock Roses and No.12 Objets d'Amsterdam. What makes our fragrance sticks unique is that they are endlessly refillable. This means you can continuously choose and experience different scents, tailored to your preferences, ensuring a lasting enjoyment.

What does 'endlessly refillable' mean for these fragrance sticks?

Marie-Stella-Maris has been dedicated to developing sustainable packaging that not only lasts but can also be endlessly refilled. How do I know when to refill the Fragrance Sticks?

You can determine the right time to refill your Monochrome Fragrance Sticks using a few simple methods:  

  • Remove the sticks carefully: Gently take the fragrance sticks out of the bottle and check the bottom. If the sticks appear dry or release less scent, it's time to refill.
  • Check inside the bottle: you can carefully look inside to see how much liquid is left.  
  • IHold up to the light: Hold the bottle up to the light. If you can't see the liquid well, the bottle is likely empty or nearly empty.  
  • Feel: Gently shake the bottle back and forth. If you feel little to no movement or hear no liquid sloshing around, it's time to refill the bottle.
I would like the Fragrance Sticks of Objets d'Amsterdam but in the black glass, is this possible?

In our new Monochrome Edition fragrance sticks collection, we offer different scents perfectly matched to the color of the glass. In the elegant matte black glass, you'll find our deeper and warmer scent, Rock Roses, ideal for a cozy and luxurious atmosphere. On the other hand, we have a fresher scent like Objets d'Amsterdam in the matte white glass. 

If you prefer a different glass color, you can first purchase the fragrance sticks in the two mentioned scents. Once they are used up, you can easily refill the bottle with a new fragrance that suits your needs, mood, or season. The unique feature of this collection is that you can refill the Monochrome Fragrance Sticks with a scent of your choice once they are empty. This allows you to continuously vary and enjoy your favorite scents, tailored to your mood or the season.

How can I refill the Fragrance Sticks?

You can easily refill our fragrance sticks and choose a new scent to enjoy each time.

 Here's how to refill your fragrance sticks in a few simple steps:  

  1. Remove the Sticks and Screw Cap: Take the sticks out of the glass bottle carefully and unscrew the diffuser cap. Note: the presence of alcohol in the formulation may cause stains on sensitive surfaces. To prevent this, we recommend using a coaster during refilling or refilling over a sink. Always place the sticks on a coaster and not directly on furniture. Ensure that the outside of the bottle is dry. 
  2. Clean the Bottle: Clean the glass bottle with warm water to remove any residues from the previous refill. Be careful not to damage the outside of the bottle with the water. 
  3. Create a Funnel: Fold the packaging of the Reed Pack to create a funnel. This will help pour the refill carefully without spilling. 
  4. Fill the Bottle: Use the homemade funnel to refill the glass bottle. Leave about 2 cm of space at the top to accommodate the sticks. Be careful and try to avoid getting the liquid on your hands, the bottle, or the surface. 
  5. Replace the Screw Cap: Screw the diffuser cap back onto the bottle. Replace the sticks if necessary and place them back into the bottle.

We bottle our natural mineral water from local sources; as close to our customers as possible. This way we minimize transport distances and limit our impact on the environment. What is the impact of our bottles on the environment?
Marie-Stella-Maris has prepared an LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) to calculate its environmental impact. The LCA helps us understand how improvements in packaging and transportation reduce environmental impact. As a result, we made our PET bottles as light as possible without losing the convenience or safety of packaging.
Is there a deposit on our bottles?

There is a deposit only on our small PET bottle, not on our glass bottles and not on the tetra pack. In addition, our bottles are 100% recyclable, therefore always throw your empty bottles in the appropriate waste containers so they can be recycled.

Marie-Stella-Maris means "Stars of the Sea" and are the baptismal names of founder Patrick Munsters.

That everyone in the world has the right to have access to clean drinking water and that with you, and through our products, we contribute to making this a reality worldwide.
What is the foundation of Marie-Stella-Maris?

The Marie-Stella-Maris Foundation is committed to achieving access to clean drinking water worldwide. By funding projects that focus on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). We carefully select our projects and monitor them during and after development so that they remain successful for years to come. Our Foundation we work closely with our partner Aqua for All.

What is the contribution to clean drinking water projects per purchase?
For every Marie-Stella-Maris product, we donate a set percentage of our sales.
How do you ensure that the contribution from my purchase benefits the clean drinking water projects?
Each month we calculate the total contribution from all our products sold and transfer this amount to the Marie-Stella-Maris Foundation. The Foundation selects and funds clean drinking water projects. Read more about the Foundation here

Is Marie-Stella-Maris a commercial company or a charity?

Marie-Stella-Maris is not itself a charity or a nonprofit organization. We are a Social Enterprise dedicated to improving access to clean drinking water worldwide. We believe that success goes beyond turning a profit.


Social Enterprises are organizations with the same objectives as charities but at the same time apply the management principles of the private sector, including the need to grow and the ability to make a reasonable financial return. A Social Enterprise is like any other business: the company provides a product or service and has a revenue model. However, making money is not the primary goal but a means to achieve the fundamental mission of creating social impact.
