B Corp (Benefit Corporation) is a global movement committed to making a real difference. The B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that excel in social and environmental performance, responsibility, and transparency. In the Benelux region alone, 420 companies have already received this esteemed recognition.
The path to B Corp certification is rigorous, involving a comprehensive impact assessment that takes about a year to complete. A company must score at least 80 out of 200 points to achieve certification. The average score for a B Corp certified company is 83.7 points.
We are incredibly proud that Marie-Stella-Maris has achieved a first score of 91 points! This is a fantastic affirmation of our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. We are determined to keep improving and making a positive impact.
All our body care products are produced in the Netherlands and are formulated with at least 96% ingredients of natural origin.
Eleven products are formulated with upcycled ingredients—these are by-products from other production processes that would otherwise go to waste, but are now given new life as hero ingredients in our body care products. For example, upcycled prickly pear oil in our Dry Body Oil and upcycled tomato seed oil in our Concentrated Hair Care.
Our body care products are always 100% vegan and free from parabens, silicones, microplastics, and the sulfates SLS and SLES – helping to promote healthy skin while keeping our waters clean.
Our glass bottles are produced in Europe and are reusable and refillable. Since 2022, these glass bottles have been made 30% lighter than their predecessors, resulting in material savings and lower CO2 emissions during transport and production.
With our sustainable refills and our Refill Bar in our stores, we aim to make refilling products easy and accessible. By refilling your products, you reduce waste, as you don't need to buy a new bottle each time.
Our collection includes 103 products, 73% of which are refillable at our Store & Refill Stations at a reduced price. We also offer refill packaging for 48 products, which can be purchased in-store, from our resellers, or online.
From the very beginning, our social mission has been our driving force: access to clean water and hygiene for all. With every purchase you make, you directly contribute to this cause. Each year, we donate 2.5% of our revenue to realize sustainable water projects. Over the years, this has allowed us to help more than 100,000 people!
