For Elza Wandler, a well-considered home is much like a family: every room has its own personality, yet together they form a cohesive whole. Her interiors balance earthy colours and natural materials with vintage finds, sculptural shapes and unexpected details – creating spaces that feel connected, but never predictable. As October brings more of everyday life indoors, Wandler shares how she uses colour, light, objects and fragrance to make each room feel personal, expressive and full of character.
AN APPROACH TO HOME DECO

AN APPROACH TO HOME DECO
''For me, a well-considered home is one that feels cohesive, but still has a sense of excitement from room to room. I like to think of a home almost like a good family: every room can have its own character and personality, but they still belong together.
I love combining an earthy, grounded feeling with more eclectic elements — natural materials, rich colours and vintage pieces alongside something unexpected or playful. The result should feel connected, but never too designed or predictable.''
“A fragrance gives your home the soul, same as music and colour does.”
STYLING A SPACE

STYLING A SPACE
''I start by looking at the space as a whole — the architecture, the light, the colours and the feeling I want to create. From there, every object should speak to the next. You don’t just buy a beautiful vase or a beautiful chair because you like it on its own; you think about how it contributes to the bigger story. For me, that is one of the real values of working with an interior designer: looking beyond individual beautiful objects and creating a cohesive world where everything has a reason to be there.''
''Fragrance has a huge impact on how you experience a space, because it is so connected to memory and emotion. I especially believe in giving the bedroom its own scent — something that immediately signals that it’s time to relax and slow down. The right scent can become almost like part of a routine and really change how a room feels.''

ON CREATING ATMOSPTHERE
''Colour, material and lighting are the starting point for me. I’m very sensitive to how light changes throughout the day and how different materials react to it. I like to use earthy colours and natural materials, combined with softer textures and more sculptural or unexpected elements. For me, a home should feel warm and calming, but it should still have energy and make you feel something.''

FAVOURITE OBJECTS
''I definitely have an obsession with vases. I love them even when there are no flowers in them — the shape, the material, the way they sit within a room. I also like surrounding myself with art and objects that I genuinely love looking at. They don’t necessarily have to serve a practical purpose; sometimes something is simply there because it makes you happy.''
